The kick-off ceremony for students dispatched for the Global Regional Studies Model Overseas Exchange Support Program of the Third (2018) HUFS CORE (initiative for COllege of humanities' Research and Education) Project was held at the International Conference Room at HUFS Seoul Campus on December 15, 2018. A total of 140 students will participate in three programs – overseas internship, overseas field survey, and overseas startup/employment contest.
In his words of encouragement at the kick-off ceremony, Yoon Seok-man, president of the CORE Project (professor of Dept. of French at the College of Occidental Languages, chairman of the HUFS Future Committee), shared his thoughts and the achievements of the CORE Project over the past three years. He said, “I hope that there will be constant efforts to further enhance our capabilities in study of the humanities.” Then, he added, “I wish for all the dispatched students to achieve their goals and to stay safe.” Selection certificates were awarded to the dispatched students, and they pledged to make the program a success.
At the kick-off ceremony, awards were also given to students who participated in the summer programs and submitted outstanding reports. Seok Ji-ho (Dept. of Russian Language), the winner of the first prize in overseas field survey, provided specific survey methods and case examples in his presentation on findings from the “Survey on the Awareness of Kirghiz University Students on Ethnic Identity and National Identity” and received a positive response from the students to be dispatched in the upcoming winter program.
