HUFS welcomes new faculty

HUFS held a ceremony to welcome new faculty members appointed for the first semester of 2019. At the ceremony held on the Seoul Campus on February 28, 2019, the new members received official letters of appointment and participated in the new faculty orientation.

Dongwon Educational Foundation Chairman Kim Chong-chul handed out the letters of appointment to the new HUFS faculty, calling on them to devote more time and effort to their teaching for the cultivation of global talents as well as to their research and the advancement of the institution.

The ceremony was highlighted by the presence of HUFS President Kim In-chul, HUFS Seoul Campus Dean of Academic Affairs Na Min-gu, and HUFS Global Campus Dean of Academic Affairs Jeon Jong-seop.

 

HUFS holds the 2019 entrance ceremony

HUFS held the 2019 New Student Entrance ceremony in Obama Hall of the Seoul Campus on February 27, 2018.

Emceed by HUFS Seoul Campus Dean of Student Affairs and Human Resources Development Kim Bong-chul, the official celebration kicked off with the procession of the HUFS color guard. The procession was followed by an opening announcement, a salute to the national flag, the declaration of admission to HUFS, oath-taking by new students, badge pinning, and a congratulatory speech by HUFS President Kim In-chul.

In his remarks, HUFS President Kim said to the 3,921 new HUFS students, “We wholeheartedly welcome all of you as new members of our institution often dubbed ‘a cradle of global talent’ and ‘a university under the Sun’.” He also added, “We will spare no effort in supporting you to make your dreams come true.”

His speech was followed by congratulatory video messages from foreign missions in Korea, including those of Germany, Russia, Saudi Arabia, and Kenya. HUFS senior students also staged their own congratulatory performances.

The induction ceremony infused pride in and a sense of belonging to HUFS into all of those in attendance, including the freshmen students, their parents, HUFS Alumni Association President Min Dong-seok, and HUFS faculty and staff.

 

HUFS holds a commencement ceremony for 2019

HUFS held commencement ceremonies at the Seoul Campus and the Global Campus on February 22, 2019.

Held at Obama Hall on the Seoul Campus and at the Conference Hall of the Centennial Complex on the Global Campus, the ceremonies were participated in by a total of 2,754 students (2,220 undergraduate students, 493 graduate students, and 41 doctoral students).

HUFS President Kim In-chul, HUFS Alumni Association President Min Dong-seok, and other HUFS administrators joined the two ceremonies, offering their congratulations and best wishes to the graduates who will now take their first steps beyond campus.

The family and friends of the graduates also attended the ceremonies in celebration of their new beginnings.

 

HUFS Holds the 2019 New Year’s Kick-off Ceremony

- "Will open the horizon of convergence studies that combine the unique value of HUFS with other academic fields by reorganizing the school system and curriculum to meet the needs of the academic market"

On January 2, 2019, HUFS held the 2019 New Year’s kick-off ceremony at Aekyung Hall on its Seoul Campus.

The ceremony was presided over by Dean Lee Seung-Yong of Administrative Support of the Seoul Campus. It began with New Year's messages by Chairman Kim Chong-chul of the Dongwon Educational Foundation, President Kim In-chul of HUFS, and President Min Dong-seok of the HUFS Alumni Association and ended with all the participants singing the university song.

President Kim In-chul said, “We will open the horizon of convergence studies that combine the unique value of HUFS with other academic fields by reorganizing the school system and curriculum to meet the needs of the academic market. We will continue to improve the efficiency of the school system by aligning with inter-departmental integration in a way that takes into consideration the features of the two campuses.”

The event was attended by some 300 participants, including the directors of the Dongwon Educational Foundation as well as HUFS faculty and staff, and it was a meaningful way to kick off the New Year.
