■ HUFS Celebrates 65th Anniversary
Celebrating the 65th anniversary of its founding, HUFS held a ceremony at Aekyung Hall on the HUFS Seoul Campus.
The celebration was attended by HUFS President Kim In-chul, Chairman Kim Chong-chul of the university foundation, Min Dong-seok, President of the HUFS Alumni Association, HUFS deans, HUFS faculty, staff, and students.
At the ceremony, Kwon Oh-gap, the Vice Chairman and CEO of Hyundai Heavy Industries Holdings, and former Ambassador to the Netherlands Choi Jong-hyun were honored with a HUFS Award in recognition of their contributions to the development and prestige of HUFS.
Vice Chairman Kwon Oh-gap was noted for his contribution as a top executive in the industry’s leading corporation and for fostering a donation culture by founding the Hyundai Oilbank 1% Nanum Foundation. Former Ambassador Choi was given an award for raising scholarship funds for the university’s students as the chairman of HUFS Alumni Association at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and his role as a mentor to students with aspirations for careers in foreign policy.
Professor Kim Yong-ae of the Department of Chemistry received the Dongwon Education Award. The award is given to a HUFS faculty or staff member who has contributed to the educational development of HUFS, promoted the dignity and a sense of responsibility of HUFS faculty and staff, and advanced higher education and research.
■ 2019 Quinquatria Festival Successfully Held
The HUFS’ spring festival ‘2019 Quinquiatria’ was held successfully from May 22 to May 24, 2019.
The eve of the festival on May 22 witnessed the HUFS Literature Fair, World Music Festival, and Film Festival. Before the Library Talks, and Talks with the HUFS President, President Kim In-chul, Dean Kim Bong-cheol of Student Affairs and Human Resource Development handed out free coffee and sandwiches.
On May 23, the festival featured busking, a Mr. HUFS championship, song contest, and a performance by PSY, the famous K-pop singer. On the last day of the festival on May 24, a gala show featuring various artists and DJ party took place.
The festival generated the necessary energies for HUFS students to pursue their academic goals for the remainder of the semester.
■ HUFS Office of Public Relations welcomed Student Ambassadors for 2019
The HUFS Office of Public Relations held a ceremony to welcome student ambassadors appointed for 2019 at the International Conference Room of HUFS Seoul Campus on May 28, 2019.
President Kim In-chul asked the newly appointed student ambassadors to make dedicated efforts to further promote HUFS.
For the year of 2019, 15 offline HUFS student ambassadors(SAEROMIs), and 20 online HUFS student ambassadors(HUFSons) were appointed.
Student Oh Ji-woon(class of 2015, Media Communication Division) said, “I promise to create high-quality content and promote is via social media channels.”
SAEROMIs are responsible for campus tours for high-school students and serve as protocol staff at extra-curricular events while HUFSons run and manage HUFS’ official social media accounts, taking photos and creating promotional content.
