HUFS student representatives won the grand prize for the 2019 POSTECH TJ Park Institute national essay contest, which was held on December 1 by the TJ Park Institute and funded by Pohang city.

13 teams passed the initial round of document review, in which the topic of the essay was “How will AI change the future,” and entered the main competition where the finalist was select by a presentation review. HUFS student representatives wrote an essay on the topic of “A future machine language user manual for AI development” and won the grand prize. ELLT student Han Ji-eun said, “We participated in the contest with the topic of machine translation, which is in the natural language processing field, because we wanted to utilize our specialty as HUFS students, and this has been a meaningful opportunity to realize the importance of linguistics as humanities students in the Fourth Industrial Revolution.”
