Student representatives from HUFS won the championship for the 1st DECOS (Debate Contest of SUN) 2019 Championship that was hosted by the World Silk Road Universities Association from October 7 to October 11, 2019, at Romania’s University of Bucharest.

The championship involved debate competitions on international issues on multiculturalism and economic developments in the Silk Road region, along with other sideline events. The English debate competition was the most important part of the championship, in which students from the Silk Road Universities Association represented each nation. The preliminary rounds took place from October 8 to October 9, and the final round was held on October 10.

HUFS, the chair school for the Silk Road Universities Association, debated with Romania’s University of Bucharest on the topic of “This house believes that maintaining cultural heritages along the Silk-Roads is more important than the economic development in the region” and won the championship after heated debates.
