HUFS students Lee Hye-mi, Kim Kun-woo, and Jeon Hee-ji of the Division of Language and Trade (LT, Class of ’16) won the grand prize for the College Student Export Item Discovery Competition at the COEX on Nov. 13, 2020.

The competition was hosted by the Korea International Trade Association (KITA) in which university students search for products from small and medium-sized businesses and present them to a professional trading company. A total of 93 entries were registered from which 11 teams were selected as finalists. For the competition, the three LT students formed “Team Best” and made a presentation for ssamjang and meat sauce from a small company for Lotte Mart, Vietnam.
The grand-prize winners analyzed the local market with precision and earned praise for setting a systemic marketing strategy. The students commented that they analyzed real data to find the products and learned valuable lessons by figuring out a localized marketing strategy.
Meanwhile, in the 2020 Undergraduate & Graduate Student Trade Remedy UCC Competition, HUFS LT students Kim Yoon-jae, Namgoong Ha-min, Lee Ye-won, and Hwang Yoon-jung (Class of ’19) won the first prize.
The competition was held to raise awareness and promote trade remedy policies for undergraduate and graduate students through new ideas. From 18 different universities a total of 42 entries were submitted, and the HUFS team presented a case on unfair trade practice whereby exported masks turned into domestic masks during the distribution process. The team used visual materials to express their thoughts on a trade remedy.
