HUFS won the grand prize in the international exchange category for the 2020 University News Network Ceremony, which was held at the Plaza Hotel on Oct. 22, 2020. It has been 5 years since HUFS won the same award in 2015.

HUFS President Kim In-chul said that HUFS puts in a lot of effort to excel in the international exchange category. Specifically, he added, HUFS offers 4-year full scholarships to 140 high school graduates who received recommendations from Ambassadors in 40 different nations. The students can also enter a master’s or PhD program if they wish. President Kim also commented that the undergraduate foreign students are not decreasing in number, despite the COVID-19 situation. He vowed to continue the efforts to be the representative university in Korea in the international exchange category.

HUFS was recognized for its efforts of using Hallyu to overcome the barriers among nations during the worldwide COVID-19 crisis and forming stronger bonds for international exchanges. Currently, HUFS is pursuing joint business ventures with Big Hit Entertainment, the company of global superstar BTS, and Korea Foundation (KF) to create Korean lessons based on BTS contents. In addition, at the Songdo International Education Center, which opened in early 2020, a variety of special lectures and exchange programs are taking place with various international partner institutions.
