HUFS cohosted the National Portuguese Contest (Concurso Nacional de Oratória em Língua Portuguesa) with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Korea Brazil Society (KOBRAS, Chairman Choi Shin-won), and Dankook University (DKU, President Kim Soo-bok) at the Seoul Campus International Conference Room on Nov. 13.

The National Portuguese Contest is the only event on the topic of a foreign language hosted by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and the ministry aims to raise the motivation for learning Portuguese and nurture language experts, thereby expanding the realm of diplomacy into the Portuguese-speaking world.
This is the 9th year anniversary of the National Portuguese Contest, which began to strengthen the ties with Brazil and Portuguese-speaking countries by increasing the interactions, is now celebrated as a festival. Starting in 2018, it has been supported by a subsidiary of the Ministry of Education, the National Institute for International Education’s Center for the Promotion of Critical Foreign Language Education to nurture Portuguese experts in expectation of an era of globalization.
