̵ The Agreement aims to share digital innovation education content and technology to bolster online learning, which has become the new normal in the COVID-19 era.
̵ The universities pledge their commitment to their roles and responsibilities to ensure that the sharing and exchange platform increases cooperation among other universities.

HUFS inked the Innovation Sharing and Exchange Agreement with Kyung Hee University, Korea University, Sungkyunkwan University, and Hanyang University at Seoul Tabolo 24 at the JW Marriott Dongdaemun Square on February 19, 2021 (Fri.). The Agreement aims to share digital innovation education content and technology to strengthen online learning in the new normal era.

The Agreement allows HUFS to promptly respond to the recent changes in the global education environment. Serving as a platform for practical exchanges with the other universities, it will also help HUFS establish and implement a new model of sharing and cooperation and thereby fulfill its goals of future talent cultivation and innovative value creation in the era of the Fourth Industrial Revolution.

At the joint colloquium held before the signing, the five universities presented their innovation cases in the following order: ‘HY-LIVE Education Platform,’ a real-time and multi-party remote class model by Hanyang University; ‘College for Multidisciplinary Talents’ by HUFS; ‘SKKU × K-BioX’ by Sungkyunkwan University; ‘KU-Insight Miner’ and ‘KU Liberty, Justice, and Truth’ by Korea University; and ‘Introduction of SDGs-Based Social Value-Creating Education Courses’ and ‘Living Lab Project for Social Innovation’ by Kyung Hee University.

HUFS President Kim In-Chul (Chairperson of the Korean Council of University Education) said in his welcoming remarks, “Our universities have long voiced the need for breaking down academic silos across departments and majors. Now is the time for us to break down barriers across universities for greater knowledge sharing and exchange.”

President Kim went on to say that the key objective of the Agreement is to build and implement a model of cooperation for sharing and exchanging exemplary innovation practices, expressing his hope that the sharing and exchange project undertaken by the five universities will spread to other universities and also lead to further opportunities for collaboration with other academic institutions.

He added, “We are here to pledge our commitment to fulfill our roles and responsibilities to ensure that this sharing and exchange platform further bolsters cooperation among universities in other regions, as well.”

As the first concrete move to share open education platforms and create a digitally innovative learning environment in preparation for the new normal after COVID-19, the five universities will hold a forum this June to present their achievements in their innovation support projects.
