Two undergraduate students, Lee Ju-Hyun and Choi Yoon-Seo (entrance class of 2019), of HUFS Division of Language and Trade (LT) won the Grand Prize at the Content Contest on the Financial Consumer Protection Act held by the Financial Supervisory Service (FSS) on May 4, 2021 (Tue.).

The FSS contest called for content ideas to promote the recently reinforced financial consumer protection regime. Seven of the 242 applications submitted were selected by the FSS after rounds of screening by financial education experts. The HUFS students created an online financial literacy program entitled ‘The FSS and Its Friends’ and received the Grand Prize for their UCC content ‘Let’s Learn about the Financial Consumer Protection Act with the FSS’.

The UCC content was highly recognized for introducing the most common forms of financial fraud in a fun and easy-to-understand manner and helping viewers better understand the reinforced consumer protection system after the recent enforcement of the Financial Consumer Protection Act. The students said, “This contest gave us a valuable opportunity to understand and assess the legislation, the hidden risks associated with financial services and the basic principles of the nation’s financial supervisory regime.” They went on to say, “We are glad that this contest has taken us one step closer to our goal of becoming financial professionals.”

Expressing his gratitude to all contest participants for creating their ingenious and amusing content based on the sometimes dry and difficult topic of law, FSS Governor Yoon Suk-Heun hoped that all submitted content will serve as a foundation for the successful promotion and implementation of the law.
