On November 10, 2021 (Wednesday), HUFS marked the 67th anniversary of its foundation and the 41st anniversary of its Global Campus at the Conference Hall of the Centennial Complex on the Global Campus.

Due to the COVID-19 situation, the celebration was held with a minimum level of physical participation in compliance with the pre-set stringent COVID-19 screening measures. According to the program of the event, the celebration kicked off with the HUFS history report followed by commemorative remarks by Chairperson Kim Jong-Chul of the university foundation and HUFS President Kim In-Chul as well as congratulatory remarks by President Yang In-Jib of HUFS Alumni Association and National Assembly Member Kim Soo-Hong (English, entry class of ‘81). During the event, plaques of merit and appreciation were awarded to HUFS and non-HUFS institutions that have contributed to greater welfare and a more stable learning environment for the members of the HUFS community. And a video was played to share the memorable achievements that HUFS has made since its foundation.

The highlight of the event was the HUFS Awards ceremony. The 67th Foundation Anniversary Award was awarded to Song Yong-Dok (English, entry class of ‘73), Vice Chairperson & CEO of Lotte Corporation, and the 41st Global Campus Anniversary Award to Kim Sang-Guk (Malay-Indonesian, entry class of ‘84), CEO of Vitamin House Corp.

Vice Chairperson Song began his career as the founding member of Hotel Lotte. Serving in key positions at the hotel chain, including President of Lotte RUS and CEO of Hotel Lotte, he has been behind its growth into an international hotel-service chain. Signiel Seoul, the tallest landmark in the nation, is one of his accomplishments, earning him recognition for his contribution to taking Hotel Lotte and South Korea to a global-level brand through his outstanding management activities. CEO Kim received the HUFS Award for improving the reputation of HUFS as an alumnus who has grown his company into the nation’s leading dietary supplement provider that manufactures good products with its own technology and distributes them with creative marketing strategies.
