- Out of his unrivaled love for HUFS and wish for humanity-serving global talent cultivation, he has donated a total of KRW 4 billion in scholarships
- He expresses his support for HUFS’s reorganizational drive to achieve “HUFS United as One”

On May 9, 2022 (Monday), Lee Deok-Sun (German, entry class of ’58), President of the Overseas HUFS Alumni Association, made a USD 1 million scholarship donation to HUFS. After all of his contributions to HUFS out of his love for his alma mater and his strong wish for cultivating global talents who will serve humanity, he showed his love for HUFS with yet another donation. With this, his total amount of donations to HUFS has reached KRW 4 billion. Mr. Lee said that his latest donation is to support HUFS’s reorganization effort to achieve “HUFS United as One” and empower the growth engine of his alma mater.
His good heart and “Giving Is Good Business” spirit have been the backbone of his success. Even before he achieved success, he had always practiced sharing and charity for the less fortunate. Having experienced firsthand that giving back what he achieved to his employees and those around him brings an even greater reward, Mr. Lee once said that sharing creates greater value. He created the Matthew D. & Katherine H. Lee Foundation, named after himself and his wife, to truly practice noblesse oblige by sharing more opportunities with others.
Stressing that with the global perspectives and entrepreneurial spirit he learned from HUFS he was able to achieve his full potential on the global stage despite all difficulties, he expressed his wish that more and more HUFS students will be able to grow into global talents who can enhance the international reputation of HUFS
and the nation. Mr. Lee was the first chairperson of the Overseas HUFS Alumni Association and now serves as its president.
