All the members of this year’s HUFS student team won at the 27th National Model UN Conference. The Conference was held by the United Nations Association of the Republic of Kora and sponsored by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs from July 12 (Tuesday) to 15 (Friday), 2022. First introduced in Korea in commemoration of the 50th anniversary of the foundation of the United Nations in 1995, the four-day mock UN assembly is held according to the actual working methods of the UN each summer at one of the nation’s universities. Along with HUFS International Model United Nations General Assembly (HIMUN), it is one of the nation’s largest mock UN conferences.

In the first session held under the theme “International Disputes and the UN’s Stronger Contribution,” HUFS students Yoon Seok-Jin (English Education, entry class of ’17) and Park Hyung-Bin (International Studies, entry class of ’18), who joined the event as the representatives of the Dominican Republic, won the Grand Prize given by the Minister of Foreign Affairs. These Grand Prize winners were also awarded the opportunity to join all conferences to be held in the UN Headquarters in New York and the UN Office in Geneva as observers. HUFS students Ahn Hyun (LD, entry class of ’17) and Kim Tae-Sun (LD, entry class of ’19) joined the conference as the representatives of China in the same session, winning the Outstanding Prize.
