Student Jang Chang-Jin of the HUFS Department of Arabic (Chair Yoon Eun-Gyeong) won the domestic section of the 2022 Korea-Arab Picture Book Translation Competition. The Competition was hosted by the Korea-Arab Society and the Korean Board on Books for Young People (KBBY) and sponsored by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and S-Oil Science Prodigy and Culture Foundation.

The 2022 Korea-Arab Picture Book Translation Competition was an international event held for the first time in Korea. It ran for about four months starting from April 7, 2022 (Thursday), drawing a total of 256 students studying in Arabic and Korean courses from 10 universities in Korea, the United Arab Emirates, Jordan, and Egypt.
For the Competition, in which participants were asked to select one of ten Korean picture books and translate it into Arabic, the HUFS student translated the picture book Scholar Lee Deok-Mu Who Became a Book, winning the top prize in the domestic section that was joined by Arabic major students from five Korean universities, including HUFS.
